Dustin Heringer, MD, is a board-certified oculofacial plastic and cosmetic surgeon at Arizona Ocular & Facial Plastic Surgery in Scottsdale and Peoria, Arizona. He strives to achieve the most natural-looking results through the most conservative treatment methods.
Dr. Heringer is one of the few surgeons who is a member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the American Board of Facial and Cosmetic Surgery, and the American Board of Ophthalmology. He provides men and women with carefully tailored treatments to enhance their aesthetic appearance and boost their self-esteem.
Dr. Heringer grew up in Bismarck, North Dakota, and graduated summa cum laude from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. Back in his home state, he earned his medical degree from the University of North Dakota. Dr. Heringer’s list of medical school honors includes: the North Dakota Medical Association Scholars Award — a prestigious award given to the top three students in the class, the Dr. Stanley J. Brumleve Award in Physiology, the McGraw-Hill Award in biochemistry, the Altru Clinic Award, and the Drs. O.W. and C.G. Johnson Award for outstanding medical student research project.
After medical school, Dr. Heringer completed his residency training at the Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon, where he studied ophthalmology and general surgery. During his residency, he received the distinguished Swan Research Award for his work on lentiviral gene therapy on melanoma cells.
Following his residency, Dr. Heringer went on to complete two separate fellowships in plastic and cosmetic surgery. The first was a two-year ocular and facial plastic surgery fellowship at the Arizona Centre for Plastic Surgery, in which he focused on eyelid and facial plastic surgery. Next, Dr. Heringer completed a one-year general cosmetic surgery fellowship at Tulsa Surgical Arts in Oklahoma, in which he performed more than 1,300 cosmetic surgeries. During this time, Dr. Heringer became proficient in state-of-the-art techniques for cosmetic facial surgeries, skin rejuvenation, lasers, and injectable fillers.
Upon completing his fellowships, Dr. Heringer served war veterans at the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System, where he performed oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgery. He is also a clinical assistant professor at the University of Arizona in Tucson, and an avid researcher who has published multiple scientific papers and medical book chapters.
When not at work, Dr. Heringer cherishes time with his wife and children and making memories with his family.
